Control landscape lighting glare for tree lighting is a simple do-it-yourself project for most homeowners.

Considering the convenience of underground wiring and the unsightliness of wires on trees, most tree lights are now installed on the ground and up-lighting. This has become one of the main causes of landscape lighting glare and one of the main sources of light pollution.

1. Control residential light pollution
According to the high-rise building glare control diagram drawn, control the installation position of the tree lighting.

Glare control requirements:

  • The closer to the residence, the easier it is to get glare
  • There are few windows at both ends of the residence, and the side window areas are rarely bedrooms and living rooms
  • The main glare direction is the front and back of the residence
  • There is also a glare control demand in the direction of residences outside the area
  • Apartments outside the area are far away, and the glare control demand is weaker

2. Hide the lighting fixtures .

Hide the lighting fixtures in the grass or install them behind trees, so you can see the light but not the lamps.

3. Adjust the lighting direction.

If you want to install tree lights on the roadside without any obstruction, be sure to point the lighting angle away from the road surface, and do not install the lamp on either side of the tree parallel to the road surface.

4. Try to use small beam angle tree lights to reduce stray light.

Choose the appropriate tree lights beam angle according to the tree species and tree shape.
If the tree is wide, you can try to replace the large beam angle tree lights with multiple small beam angle tree lights to minimize large area and high-brightness lighting in eye view.

5.Install on the tree.

The tree lights can be installed on the tree to illuminate the tree above or below.
Fix it with a retractable device to avoid affecting the growth of the tree. Fix it on the branch to illuminate the tree crown.
